He had so much fun on his birthday. He loved the hats and the balloons and the presents and the cake. He loved it all. He saw my packages that arrived in the mail yesterday and he keeps saying "cake? hat?"

From Grandma!

Hi Family dear,
I thought I would just pop a little note on the blog. Dad is becoming busier and busier each day. I'm sure as they (the Bishop and his counselors) get organized, things will run very smoothly...or at least as smoothly as they possibly can when you are involved and over-seeing some 300-ish people.
Brother Pettit passed away this morning. He has had lung cancer and had been given 6 months tops when he was diagnosed 2 years ago. He has had a fairly comfortable 2 years and has enjoyed his family of 4 sons (grown) and several grandchildren. His wife Mary is a good friend and is handling his passing, at this point, quite well.
Other than that, life is moving on.
We miss you who live in Seattle and Provo, and are really happy that we get to see 7 of you here, sometimes daily!
